TASMANIAN ABORIGINAL CENTRE
MULTIPURPOSE COMMUNITY FACILITY
Piyura Kitina
The Piyura Kitina site is significant to the Tasmanian Aboriginal Community. It was the launching point for white settlement of Tasmania, through to the symbolic reconciliation of the Aboriginal Land Act 1995 land hand back, and is re-occupated by the Tasmanian Aboriginal Community.
The Pyramids at Risdon Cove were originally built as a ‘Visitor Centre at Bowen Park’ by Parks and Wildlife in 1971.
The Pyramid refurbishment project reworked the internal layouts and provided a new front door. It is now an education facility, multipurpose rooms, training kitchen, and amenities.
