Oral Health Services Tasmania (OHST) is the primary provider of Tasmanian Government funded public dental services. The project was a major upgrade and expansion of the New Town building. The project addressed inefficient workflows, improved staff and patient amenities, and accommodated expanding client demand. The facility’s capacity was increased to 16 consulting rooms and a new patient reception area and amenities.
The design approach was patient and practitioner focused and was an adaptive reuse of the adjacent heritage building to provide a safe, calm, and reflective reception area for clients whilst incorporating high quality work environments for all staff and clinicians.
The project was staged to enable it to be built concurrent with the OHST dental program remaining in operation during construction.
