Luyni Mungalina

The TAC Community facility is located in central Luyni Mungalina and it was established in 1996 to provide legal, health, and community services for the northern Tasmanian aboriginal community. Over time the scope and extent of services had expanded.

The project was a major refurbishment of an outdated warehouse fitout to provide increased health, vocational training, community and outreach services and language recovery programs, whilst addressing sustainability and improving the internal environment. The approach was adaptive reuse by expanding both the ground floor and first floor by modifying the original oregon trusses. The major works were undertaken in stages as the premises were in occupation.
